The Postgraduate Program "Reuse of Buildings and Complexes" of the Department of Architecture of the University of Thessaly, in the context of its research activity, proceeds with the recording and mapping of the stone bridges of Pelion, with the aim of highlighting and protecting the cultural heritage and the traditional architecture of the place.

As part of this effort, we are extending an open invitation to the public and asking for the contribution of all those who have information about the stone bridges of the area.

 In particular, any historical source, personal testimony, photographic material of earlier times or information about the location of bridges located in remote or lesser-known locations, can prove extremely valuable for their documentation and study.

The stone bridges, important technical projects of the past that served the communication and development needs of the settlements of Pelion, are today a special element of our cultural identity, which needs protection and promotion.

 The main objective of our research is:

• The recording and documentation of the current condition of the bridges

• The creation of a digital register using Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

• The strengthening of protection and maintenance actions

• The exploration of possibilities for their reuse and utilization in the modern environment

We invite you to actively contribute to this effort, in order to preserve and highlight the richness of our local heritage.
