The Paliouri settlement is located at an elevation of 230 meters, a short geographic distance from Volos and Dimini. Its current condition is characterized by intense population decline and almost complete abandonment, especially after the earthquakes of 1957, with only a few permanent residents remaining, mainly livestock farmers.

The settlement is an illustrative example of a peripheral residential ensemble affected by post-war urbanization and internal migration. At the same time, it preserves significant morphological and spatial characteristics that reflect a qualitative and functional relationship with the rural landscape and the natural environment.

The existing, largely abandoned building stock is a representative example of vernacular stone architecture, offering special interest in its construction techniques, typology, and integration with the landscape. Its current condition also makes it an open field for investigation and documentation of traditional building knowledge.

In this context, the workshop focuses on the systematic study of the building stock, its detailed recording and documentation, its constructional and morphological analysis, as well as the use of modern methods and technologies for documentation and digital representation.
