Construction site of the Social Activities Building of Karditsa

The Center for Social Activities of Karditsa is an important infrastructure project (budget ~3.4 million €) implemented by the Region of Thessaly and will operate under the responsibility of the Metropolis.

The building includes a social restaurant, tutoring center, amphitheater and counseling areas, with work to be in the equipment stage in 2026.

Key Information & Evolution (until May 2026):

•         Purpose: Social care (soup kitchen, education, support).
•          Status 2025-2026: Construction work progressed at an intensive pace (carpentry, installation). In January 2026, an extension of closure was granted.
•          Equipment: In May 2026, temporary contractors emerged for the building's equipment, marking the final phase before operation.
•          Structure: Ground floor (social restaurant) and 1st floor (amphitheater/halls).

The project is one of the most important social infrastructure projects in the region, aiming to address social needs.
