Prestressed Concrete and Bridge Elements.
Theocharis Papatheocharis, is Adjunct Lecturer in the Dept. of Civil Eng. at University of Thessaly (UTH), Greece, and postdoctoral researcher in the Laboratory of Mechanics & Strength of Materials (LMSM) in the Dept. of Mechanical Eng. (UTH).
He teaches Composite Structures and Design of Prestressed Concrete. Prior to LMSM position, he was a long time research engineer in the Laboratory of Reinforced Concrete (UTH). He has also served as Research Engineer at MIRTEC SA (ΕΒΕΤΑΜ ΑΕ) and Shelter SA. He holds a Diploma in Civil Engineering, an MSc in Applied Mechanics and a PhD in Structural Engineering from UTH.
His educational background also includes a BSc in Structural Engineering from the Tech. Educ. Inst. of Crete, Greece, and a certification to laboratory quality control and testing activities. He specializes in structural and experimental mechanics, building an expertise in experimental methods and multi-scale laboratory testing for both structural components and materials, either by steel or concrete.
He has been involved in several European (RFCS) and national research projects, with the participation of European and Greek industry, and co‐authored more than 40 publications in refereed international journals and conference proceedings. His current research focuses on steel components fatigue in corrosive environment and is funded by the Hellenic Foundation Research Institute.
