Academic & Professional Career

Dr. Koutas is an Associate Professor in the Structural Engineering Division of the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Thessaly (Election: 2024). He holds a Diploma in Civil Engineering (2008), an MSc in Earthquake Engineering (2010), and a PhD (2015) from the University of Patras. He has served as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Nottingham and the University of Sheffield.

Research Work

He specializes in reinforced concrete structures and their strengthening with fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composites.

• Research Projects: Principal investigator in a Horizon 2020 project.
• Publications: More than 50 papers in international journals and conference proceedings.

International Distinctions & Committees

He actively participates in the international scientific community as a committee member of fib (Task Group 5.1) and RILEM (MCC Committee). He is an editorial board member of the Journal of Composites for Construction (ASCE) and a reviewer for 32 international scientific journals.
